WordPress Nonce & Form Security Generator

Generate WordPress nonce fields and secure form-processing starter code with capability checks, unslashing, sanitization and context-aware escaping.

Runs locally in your browser

Starter code only. Nonces verify intent, not authorization. Validate business rules and escape output for its actual context.

Generate safer WordPress form boilerplate

WordPress nonces help verify request intent for state-changing actions. They are not authorization. This generator pairs a nonce with an explicit capability check and starter sanitization for common field types.

What this tool generates

  • A form nonce using wp_nonce_field().
  • Server-side verification with check_admin_referer().
  • An explicit current_user_can() capability check.
  • wp_unslash() before sanitizing request data.
  • Starter sanitization for text, textarea, email, URL, integer and boolean fields.
  • A context-aware output escaping example.

Why the capability check is separate

A valid nonce indicates intent for a particular action, but WordPress documentation explicitly warns that nonces are not authentication or access control. Always decide who is allowed to perform the action with a capability check.

Sanitize input and escape output

Sanitization cleans or normalizes incoming data. Escaping happens when output is rendered and must match the output context. Validate business rules such as ranges, allowed values, ownership and object state separately.

Important limitations

This generator does not make arbitrary code secure. It does not replace authorization design, validation, prepared database queries, file-upload validation, REST permission callbacks or threat modeling. WordPress nonces can expire and are not true one-time tokens.

Verification checklist

  1. Submit the form normally and confirm the expected update.
  2. Remove or alter the nonce and confirm processing stops.
  3. Test with a user who lacks the chosen capability.
  4. Test malformed values and boundary cases.
  5. Confirm stored values are sanitized and rendered values are escaped for their actual context.
